The reason I named him Patriot is because I found him on July 4th of 2024. He had crawled underneath one of my trucks on the ranch basically to die. I coaxed him out from under the truck with some food and he was emaciated. I was able to get him to start drinking water and eating a tiny bit. I didn't get too close to him or try to push him to do anything more than just lay there and eat and drink so I didn't notice his wounds. After a couple of days he was to the point where he could get up and move around and that's when I noticed he had been shot. The bullet had entered the back of his left rear thigh gone completely through that leg, grazed his rib cage and then went through his left front leg. Needless to say it took a lot of time and care just to get him to the point where he could walk around and eat and drink. He continued to heal however limped pretty bad for several months. Meanwhile I had talked to people in the area and let them know that I had found him and nursed him back to health hoping to find his owners, he had a collar on but no tags. Eventually I was able to reunite him with his loved ones and we hope that they will enjoy his company for years to come. CCK
